‘It’s not easy being green.’

Throughout lockdown, as well as running our busy takeaway & delivery business in the kitchen, being a husband to Yaz and 'Dad' to his three lovely children and foster children, Chef Abul has also been working on creating new dishes for the Spice Fusion menu.

Rajeev with our award-winning Chef Abul

Based on the reality that most curries are brown, he’s not only finding new tastes, but he’s experimented with how they could look ‘different from the rest.’

Many have been tested and liked, but there was one that Abul kept up his sleeve. Until early April – where we got to taste a 'green curry' and wow! is the word that summed up our thoughts.

Cotton Green Chicken or Colaba Chicken? We put it to a vote!

An immediate 'definite' to be added to the restaurant and 'at home' menus, but there was a dilemma; what should it be called?

It got down to two options, either 'Cotton Green Chicken' or 'Colaba Chicken'. At that point, we decided to 'ask the audience' and put a poll on our Facebook. Over 200 people voted (thank you!) and 48 hours later, 'Cotton Green Chicken' was declared the winner and it's now on our new Main Menu.

We also offer a Cotton Green Paneer version - the no-meat, no-loss of flavour version,

WHY THE NAME ‘COTTON GREEN?’

Cotton Green is a suburb of Mumbai and is also the name of a railway station on the Mumbai suburban railway. Cotton was shipped from this location as recently as 1910.

The station is named Cotton Green after an Art Deco building of the "Cotton Exchange" and a series of warehouses. The older Cotton Green in Colaba was thus named because it was in a village green and housed the original cotton exchange.

But there's more!

If chicken isn't your thing, or if you fancy something different, then we have good news – our Cotton Green dish tastes great with Paneer too!

Come and be one of the first to enjoy Cotton Green Chicken or Cotton Green Paneer from Monday 17 May* in our restaurant – we can't wait to hear what you think. Making a booking is highly recommended! https://www.spicefusionkent.com/restaurant

*It will be added to our 'at home' menus on Uber Eats, Just Eat, Deliveroo, Gillingham Eats apps and on our own website a few days later.
